The facility is 63,275 square feet and has 68 suites with king-sized beds and 35 suites with two queen-sized beds.
Developers broke ground Friday on a new $7 million hotel in the Belden Village area.
The SpringHill Suites by Marriott is at 5770 Dressler Road NW, next to Jeff’s MotorCars and the Courtyard by Marriott. The new hotel is intended to provide travelers with a swankier lodging option, said Monica Corbin, chief of operations.
The facility will be 63,275 square feet and have 68 suites with king-sized beds and 35 suites with two queen-sized beds. Some are ADA compatible, said Linda Reho with Pride One Construction, the general contracting company for the work.
The rooms at SpringHill Suites are larger than a standard hotel room and have a living area with a queen-size pull-out sofa bed. A room cost hasn’t been determined yet, Corbin said.
The new hotel will also feature a heated indoor pool, a fitness center, a sun patio and a complimentary breakfast.
While its neighbor, the Courtyard by Marriott, caters to corporate travelers, the new hotel is designed to attract “women and families,” too, Corbin said.
Davang Patel, who owns the property, said there’s a need for boutique-style hotel rooms in the region.
“The guests who come to our local area always want higher-class property,” he said.
The projected opening date for SpringHill Suites is May 2014.
