Two Portage County men were arrested after deputies caught them cutting copper wire from power poles in a Stark County park.
Stark County sheriff’s deputies arrested two Portage County men at Molly Stark Park early Sunday after the duo had cut copper from electric utility poles, according to Stark County Jail records.
Windham residents Aaron Tucker III, 34, and the 37-year-old man he was with were arrested at 1:35 a.m. in the park at 7900 Columbus Road NE, which is part of Stark Parks.
Jail records said the men cut the copper wire from the poles and damaged equipment.
Each was booked into the jail on charges of felony theft, felony vandalism, criminal tools possession and criminal/aggravated trespassing.
Both men have lengthy misdemeanor criminal conviction records in Portage County. Tucker went to prison in 2005 for felony vandalism and in 2001 for felonious assault and assault, Portage County court records show.
The amount of damage done to the poles at the park was not listed on the jail records.
