The National Anthem was sung, solo, by Ms. Olivia Clark, from Manchester High school, who did a terrific job. Our Grand Marshal was Mr. Keith Watson, Veteran, US Navy. The Invocation was given by Jim Smith, Deacon of grace Bible Church. I would like to thank the American Legion Post #566, Mr. David Dowling, Honor Guard Members: Al Lepley, John Kamm, Chris Miller, Kathy Zamesko, Jim Cullison, Eula Thomas, Doug Delaney, Ralph De Voe, Raphael Barrios, George Frigne and George DuBaj for performing the Gun Salute. The Benediction was given by Joel Stroup, Pastor Grace Bible Church.
Thanks to the New Franklin Police Department, Fire Department and Road Department for their participation. Also, I would like to thank Band Director, Mr. Brian King and the Manchester High School Band for their participation.
Again, the New Franklin Council sponsored the Memorial Day Essay Contest. The first place essay winner for $200 was Kyle Daily, senior at Manchester High School.
A special thanks to Pastor Joel Stroup of grace Bible Church for the wonderful pancake breakfast, and for the use of their parking lot and sound system. We really appreciate all the effort and time that you put into the Memorial Day Parade.
Last, but not least, thanks to the community businesses that donated various items for the parade: Portage Lakes IGA, Manchester McDonalds, Sanford’s Quality Wash, ACME No. 14, Manchester Garden Center, Canton Road Garden Center. Carnations were donated by the “House of Eberhardt Funeral Home”, Tim & Jeannette Eberhardt.
