  • Former U.S. Rep. John Boccieri, who last week finished his two-year term representing Ohio’s 16th Congressional District, said he had not yet landed a new job as of Monday.
Boccieri, who had his fifth child in November three days before he lost his bid for re-election, has focused on spending time with his family and training in the Air Force Reserve to get back up to speed flying C-130 cargo planes.
The Alliance Democrat was taking a break from flight training at the Youngstown Joint Air Reserve Station on Saturday when he saw a TV news broadcast that a former colleague, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., had been shot while attending a constituent event.
Before his election to Congress, Boccieri fulfilled his reserve requirement flying to Iraq and Afghanistan, although he was a state legislator. While serving in Congress, Boccieri said, he served much of his reserve duty with a Pentagon desk job.
When asked if he’s had discussions about working for the Obama administration, he did not say yes or no but said, “No offers have been made.”
