  • The 90-year-old Canton Woman’s Club has applied for its first liquor license.
“We’re trying to take the Canton Woman’s Club to the next level,” said Craig Wright, who manages daily operations of the 166-member club at 822 Market Ave. N.
The application for a D-2 license was filed last month with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control. If approved, the club will be allowed to sell and serve wine and mixed beverages.
Wright said the club hosts wedding receptions and banquets. Until now, though, the renters had to bring in their own alcohol to serve at the event.
The license will allow the club to stock and sell the alcohol.
