  • A Portage County man and a Lake Township man were arrested by Stark Metropolitan Narcotics Unit officers in Plain Township, where the officers seized more than two pounds of marijuana.
Stark County Jail records said David L. Schlarb, 22, of Kent, and Alex J. Hessman, 24, of 3404 State St. NE, had “more than a kilogram” of marijuana when police arrested them at 5:16 p.m. Wednesday outside a home in the 1100 block of Glennview Street NE.
Each was jailed on a felony marijuana possession charge.
Schlarb attempted to drive away from the home in a car containing a brown box investigators said was known to hold marijuana.
Schlarb remained in the jail early Thursday, held in lieu of $100,000 bond pending a hearing in Canton Municipal Court.
Jail records said Hessman was released at 10:38 p.m. Wednesday after posting a $50,000 bond.
