“The thunderstorms could be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds,” the weather service said on its website just before noon.
The weather service listed a 60 and 70 percent chance of thunderstorms in the Stark County area Wednesday afternoon and evening. The chance of thunderstorms increases to 90 and 100 percent on Thursday, according to the website.
The temperature was expected to reach 77 degrees on Wednesday, fall to an overnight low of 52 and then rise again on Thursday to 70, the weather service said.
At noon, the Akron Canton Airport listed a temperature at 73 degrees under overcast skies with winds out of the southwest at 17 mph and gusts up to 23 mph.
