City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
On June 20, deputies were called to a park on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road, where a woman was reported unconscious inside a car. A man at the scene told officers that he and the woman were injecting Oxycontin in his car when the woman passed out. Paramedics took the woman to an area hospital for observation. During a search of the man’s car, officers uncovered a syringe and a metal spoon with burn marks. The man, 19, of Hartville, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. Also, officers found marijuana and a drug pipe in the woman’s car. The woman, 19, of Clinton, was charged with two counts of possession.

Someone broke the locks off a storage unit on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road June 21. Four tires, two truck ramps and a lawnmower were among the items reported stolen.

A 31-year-old Gougler Road man was charged with disorderly conduct June 17 after causing a disturbance at a South Main Street bar. According to the report, the man began throwing bar stools around and tried to pick fights with employees and patrons.

On June 21, deputies were called to a Massillon Road home, where a woman reported her ex-boyfriend threatened her with bodily harm. She said he also prevented her from closing her door by placing his foot in the doorway. While questioning the 22-year-old suspect, deputies discovered he had two knives on him. He was charged with domestic violence and carrying a concealed weapon. The woman was also charged, with possession of drug paraphernalia, after deputies found two marijuana pipes on her.

A 25-year-old Akron man was charged June 20 with criminal damaging. Deputies said he broke a bedroom window at an apartment complex on Mayfair Road. He was advised to stay off the property.

A 34-year-old Honeymoon Drive woman was charged June 21 with obstruction of official business. Deputies said she tried to prevent fire personnel from performing their duties by lighting a cigarette next to their oxygen tank. When she was ordered to put out the cigarette, she became combative and had to be handcuffed.

A Glen Ross Drive woman told deputies June 18 that someone called her and said her nephew was in trouble and that she was to wire $3,009 to Windsor, Canada. The woman wired the money. She later learned her nephew was not in trouble.

Coventry Township (Sheriff’s Patrol)
On June 20, a 10-year-old Loma Drive girl told deputies that her mother had been taking pills by sniffing them through her nose. Officers found the 24-year-old mother unconscious on the floor with her face up against a TV. Her one-year-old son was found in an adjacent bedroom with his face down on the mattress. Paramedics were called to revive the woman, who was later described as incoherent. She was taken to an area hospital for further treatment. Deputies charged her with child endangering. The two children were released to their grandmother.

A 19-year-old State Mill Road man was charged with drug abuse June 22 after deputies said he was observed in his backyard smoking marijuana from a pipe.

Also on June 22, a deputy stopped a car leaving a closed business on South Main Street. The driver, a 19-year-old Norton man, was intoxicated and charged with drunken driving. He was also found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Two female passengers, both 18, were charged with underage consumption.

Vandals broke the front window of an ice cream stand on Portage Lakes Drive June 20. An estimate of the damage was unavailable.

On June 18, a Chaffin Road woman reported someone entered her home through an unlocked basement door and stole two rings, a camera and $20.

City of New Franklin
During a stop for traffic violation on Cleveland-Massillon Road June 18, an officer asked a 21-year-old a male passenger to step out of the car and walk toward the police cruiser. The man lingered by the passenger door, prompting the officer to walk over to see what was going on. On the ground next to the man the officer spotted what appeared to be a marijuana pipe. The man denied it was his. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a summons to appear in court.

Police responded to a call from a Kungle Road woman who said she received 40 unwanted calls from a man that were harassing in nature. The suspect, who is the woman’s ex-husband, told police he called to make arrangements to get his property back but the two started arguing and the woman repeatedly hung up on him.

On June 15, the owner of a Manchester Road business reported a Peninsula man left four threatening messages on his answering machine. Police phoned the suspect and advised him to stop the calls and stay away from the business.

A Wildrose Drive woman told police June 12 that someone used her bank account information to cash a check for $259. The unauthorized transaction was made at a Wadsworth branch office, the report said. In a similar incident reported the next day, a Lieb Drive woman said someone used two electronic checks to withdraw $54 from her account. Both incidents were under investigation.

Springfield Township
A 43-year-old Coach Lane man was charged with criminal damaging June 18. Police said he deliberately broke a branch off a tree at a Canton Road car lot.

A 22-year-old North Canton woman was accused of theft June 17 after police said she purposely failed to scan some items at a South Arlington Road discount store. She attempted to leave with $38 worth of unpaid merchandise, police said.

On June 13, a Junior Avenue woman said someone twice phoned her home and used profanity and made sexual remarks to her. She also said the caller described her children and the inside of her house. Police advised her to contact her phone carrier since the caller’s ID came up as a private number.

A 55-year-old Barberton man was arrested June 15 after he reportedly tried to steal a $550 vacuum cleaner from a South Arlington Road department store. When a loss prevention officer confronted the man in the parking lot, he dropped the item and ran. He was apprehended after a brief chase and taken to the Summit County Jail.

On June 12, police were called three times to an Abington Road home to investigate an open burning complaint. Each time an officer arrived, the 46-year-old homeowner would put out the fire, but then re-light it again as soon as the officer left. During the last incident, when the officer cited the man for open burning, the man’s 19-year-old son came out and started yelling and swearing at the officer. He refused to obey the officer’s repeated warnings to stop shouting, police said, and was also intoxicated. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and underage consumption.

Lakemore Village
Police received a call June 14 of someone parked on Cayuga Avenue playing the radio loudly. An officer located the car and found the radio still blaring; a young man, apparently intoxicated, was inside. Police said the suspect, an 18-year-old of Sanitarium Road, had trouble standing up and failed several field sobriety tests. Later after being taken to the station, he blew a BAC rating of .179, more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with having control of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Police stopped a driver on Church Street at about 1 a.m. June 14 for driving without headlights. The 18-year-old female driver, of Short Street, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a drug instrument with residue was found in her car during a consented search. A 20-year-old male passenger, of Sunnyside Avenue, was charged with underage consumption. Police also discovered he had a warrant from Akron police.

Uniontown Police
On June 17, a Heckman Street woman told police she received notification from a creditor telling her she owed money on a satellite TV account. She later learned the account was fraudulent and addressed to a home in Canton. In a related matter reported June 16, a Carla Avenue man said someone used his credit card number to make a purchase at a Best Buy store in Richfield, Minnesota in the amount of $13,386.

A Wright Road woman said her car was vandalized while parked at her home. She reported finding a dent on the driver’s door, a large scratch in the front-end area and two scrape marks in the form of an “x” on the hood. An estimate of the damage was unavailable.

On June 15, a Hoover Avenue woman reported three wolves running loose in her yard. One of the wolves, she said, attacked her dog.  Shortly after an officer spotted the animals on Edison Street. A 57-year-old Hoover Avenue man was cited for violating an animal control ordinance.

An SUV was broken into while parked at an Edison Street miniature golf course June 15. A purse was taken from a back seat. Two days later Springfield Township police recovered the purse on East Waterloo Road. The victim said no items were missing.

Hartville Village
A High Street woman was arrested for aggravated menacing June 19 and booked into the Stark County Jail. Two witnesses told police they saw her chase a man with a rock in her hand outside her apartment complex.

Police were called to a W. Maple Street store June 19 after two females reportedly left with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise. Four video games, two of which featured Hannah Montana, and two bath scales were taken, employees said. The women were seen leaving in a burgundy colored Chevrolet.
