The Cleveland Indians announced today that right-handed pitcher Tyler Sturdevant has been promoted to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.
In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong has been added to the Aeros roster, and is expected to be in uniform for Thursday evening's game against Altoona (Pirates) at Canal Park.
Armstrong, 21, will be making his debut at the Double-A level in just his second pro season. While with the Mudcats, Armstrong was a mid-season all-star in the Carolina League. He was 1-3, 2.06, in 26 games with the Mudcats, registering 52 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings. Armstrong was drafted in the 18th round last season out of East Carolina University.
Sturdevant, who was sidelined the first half of the season while rehabbing a shoulder injury, appeared in six games for the Aeros with no record and a 3.72 ERA.
The Aeros roster now stands at 25 players.
