Young professionals group, Torchbearers, to host AKRUN & CRAWL

Torchbearers, a Greater Akron young professional’s group, will host their second annual AKRUN & CRAWL Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008. The event includes a 5K run along the Towpath in Downtown Akron and a pub crawl, following the race. Race registration starts at 3:30 p.m. behind the Spaghetti Warehouse parking lot, 510 S. Main St. Parking will be available at the AES Building, 388 S. Main St.

The race will begin at 5 p.m. and will start at the Spaghetti Warehouse. The route will head North with a turnaround at the Mustill Store and end near the start of the race. Race results will be announced at 6 p.m. at 69 Taps, 374 Orleans Ave., which is near the finish line of the race.
The Pub Crawl will start at 69 Taps and will also include: The Lockview, Ohio Brewing Co./Damon’s Grill and The Barley House.

The early registration cost for both events is $22 and includes a race t-shirt, goody bag, race prizes, computerized results, food and beverages at 69 Taps plus drink and food special at the Pub Crawl locations. If anyone is interested in just participating in the pub crawl they can pre-register for $12 and will receive a t-shirt and drink specials at all pub crawl locations. Day of registration cost is $30 for both events and $20 for just the pub crawl.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Friends of the Metro Parks and Torchbearers. The AKRUN & CRAWL is sponsored by Torchbearers and Second Sole. For more information and to register log onto www.akrunandcrawl.org.
