The OPGA will bring two state golf championships to Stark County this year.
The OPGA Junior Boys' Championship for ages 12-20 will be played at Tam-O-Shanter Golf Course July 16-17 on the Dales Course. The OPGA 72-hole medal play championship will be played at Seven Hills July 24-27.
The Junior Championship will be divided into three age groups: 12-14, 15-17 and 18-20.
Trophies for the top three places will be awarded in each age division along with a $500 college scholarship given to the winner of the 18-20 age group.
Entry fee for the tournament is $65 and includes green fees, range balls and awards. After July 6, the entry fee is $75.
The 84th OPGA State Golf Championship will be played for the second consecutive year at Seven Hills Golf Course in Hartville.
The medal play championship is open to both private and public amateur golfers, ages 16 and older who are Ohio residents.
The entry fee of $125 includes a practice round on July 23, four rounds of golf, July 24-27, and prizes.
There are two cuts - one after 36 holes (reducing the field to the low 100 golfers and ties) and one cut after 54 holes (reducing the field to the top 60 golfers and ties).
Kevin Miller of Dover is the defending champion.
After July 9 there will be a $10 late fee.
Entries for both tournaments may be obtained by going to www.opga.us or at the golf courses hosting the tournaments.
