Akron 3, Altoona 2
W: Huff (2-1) L: Hamman (0-5) SV: Newsom (7)
Keys to the game:
Akron jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning, and responded to Altoona's run in the seventh with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
David Huff ended the trend of Aeros' starters giving up runs in the early inning by not allowing a run through the first six. For the night, he went seven innings, allowing one run on just four hits, striking out eight.
Wes Hodges broke the scoreless tie with a bases loaded two-run single. He went 2-3 with a walk on the night with all three RBIs for the Aeros.
Newsom's perfect ninth inning lowered his ERA on the year to 1.42.
Roster Moves:
RHP Sung-Wei Tseng was demoted to single-A Kinston, while RHP Erik Stiller was promoted to Akron.
