Former Mount Union and current Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Pierre Garcon has been invited to the White House Wednesday at the request of US President Barack Obama.

The event which will be at 11 am tomorrow is a small gathering in the Rose Garden that will include words from President Obama and the President of Haiti about the tremendous response to an earthquake that happened in January and that the need for support is still there.

Garcon, whose parents along with numerous family and friends are from Haiti, brought national attention to the need for help to Haiti during the Colts run to the Super Bowl this past season.

He is being recognized for his efforts that have raised over $100,000 for Haiti relief.

Mount Union faculty, staff and students along with Alliance community contributed nearly $15,000 though the Hugs for Haiti project.
