Akron’s Corey Woods signs free agent contract with New England Patriots

Former University of Akron football player Corey Woods has signed a free agent contract for the 2011 NFL season with the New England Patriots, the organization announced late Wednesday. He was one of 12 rookie free agents to sign with the franchise.

The 6-foot-5, 300 pound Woods was a four-year starter for the Zips, and played at both left and right tackle during his collegiate career. An All-Mid-American Conference performer in 2009, his 48 career starts tie as the most in school history and also tie as the second most games played.
