CANTON A total of 95 Malone University student-athletes, including several from Suburbanite-area schools, were recognized when the Great Midwest Athletic Conference recently announced its 2017-18 Academic All-Conference Team.
To earn the distinction, the student-athlete’s grade point average must be a minimum of 3.30 based on the 4.0 system, cumulative for the student-athlete’s entire collegiate career. Additionally, the student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing while completing at least one full academic year at the nominating institution.
"Balancing the high demands of practices and competitions, as well as the rigors of full-time academic pursuits is no easy task," Malone athletic director Charlie Grimes said. "These 95 student-athletes are to be commended for their efforts to keep up with the fast-paced life of being a college student-athlete. We are very appreciative of the hard they put forth and are very proud of all that the Malone athletic department accomplished this year."
