COVENTRY TWP.  An injury ended his senior season less than three games in, but Coventry quarterback Steve Locher hasn’t played his final snap of football yet.

Locher, who entered the season with lofty expectations and seemed on his way to reaching many of them, went down with a knee injury in a Week 3 loss to Tallmadge and as he recovers, he has committed to play college football for Walsh University.

As a junior, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Locher was named honorable mention for the Portage Trail Conference and had his team off to a 2-0 start as a senior before getting injured.

He is one of several members of this year’s Coventry senior class headed to Walsh, which is an NCAA Division II program competing in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. His sister, parents and coaches joined him for his signing ceremony.
