AKRON Akron RubberDucks catcher/designated hitter Eric Haase has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of July 3-9. The 24-year old batted .400 (10-for-25) with two doubles, one triple, four home runs, seven RBIs, seven runs scored, one walk and a 1.040 slugging percentage in six games last week.
Haase, a native of Westland, Mich., had at least one hit in all six games he played in during the week and recorded multiple hits in three of those games, including a pair of two-home-run games (July 4 at Harrisburg and July 7 at home against Altoona).
With his big week, the 5-foot-10 Haase maintained his EL lead in slugging percentage at .628 to end the week while also maintaining a .275 batting average with 17 home runs and 37 RBIs in 57 games for the RubberDucks this season. Haas was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 2011 draft.
