SPRINGFIELD TWP.  He’s been one of the more consistent golfers in the Portage Trail Conference the past three seasons and Springfield senior Jacob Williams has used a solid high school career as a springboard to the college level.

Williams, a three-time honorable mention All-PTC selection and a one-time second-team selection, has committed to golf collegiately for Marietta College.

At Springfield, Williams was also a letterwinner in bowling, as well as being a member of marching band, jazz band, pep band and concert band. In the classroom, he carries a 3.2 GPA and ironically, the classroom is where Williams hopes to land once he completes his education and begins his career.

He plans to major in education at Marietta and wants to become a teacher. He’s looking forward to tackling life on and off the golf course in college.

“I’m looking forward to building a golf program and furthering my education,” Williams said.

When asked about the primary reasons for choosing Marietta, Williams cited the campus itself and town as the big points of appeal.
