GREEN  After breaking Green’s career sacks record and earning three varsity letters as a defensive end, senior Cameron Matthews has committed to play football for Malone University.

Matthews, who received All-Federal League recognition as a sophomore and junior, finished his Green career with 18 1/2 sacks, establishing a new mark in program history. Green finished 2-8 last season, its second in the Federal League.

Asked about who the most influential people have been in his academic and athletic journeys to this point, Matthews kept it close to home.

“My family … they are my rock,” Matthews said. “They keep me going. They made me the young man I am and with them I will continue to prosper; without them, I’m lost.”

Matthews was joined for his signing ceremony by his parents, along with friends and school staff members. He intends to major in psychology at Malone.
