On behalf of the several thousand students, fans and community members within the Lake Local School District, I would like to publically thank the Lake Building Committee, Inc., for their tremendous gift of the all-weather surface field to our school district. The aptly-named “Alumni Field” is truly a testament to the unique synergy and support among our community members for our kids and those events which positively impact this special area of northern Stark County.
This project, organized, promoted and funded by the LBCI without utilizing any taxpayers’ dollars, will expand the opportunities within our school and community twenty-fold. Lake has prided itself in recent years for maximizing the strengths of our community partners through collaboration and resource-sharing. By creating an all-weather surface in what is the “largest classroom in Lake Township,” the district will be able to offer expanded programming for all ages of the community. We now truly have the finest multi-purpose outdoor facility in this part of Ohio!
With the type of synergy created in a project of this magnitude, there has been a true team effort. However, I would be remiss in not acknowledging a few individuals for their extra effort to make Alumni Field a reality in a very short period of time:
LBCI and, in particular, Neven Zelich, Toby Enz and Ron Pulliam for their leadership and vision throughout the fund-raising efforts that have taken place and will continue during the next several months.
Mike Vinton and his team at Vasco Asphalt for their oversight as general contractor on the project and their spirit of cooperation.
Dale Karmie, Brian Karmie, Ken Karmie, Jim Karmie and Robb Wolfe of ForeverLawn for providing expert installation of truly the best turf product on the market today.
To all of the volunteers and parents who embraced the vision of this project and quickly realized the short and long term benefits for our community.
The result of combined and coordinated energies can create amazing accomplishments. This project was one of those unique opportunities to observe that “game plan” come to fruition.
What’s great about Lake………everything!
