A 19-year-old North Canton woman was charged with tampering with records after she allegedly tried to get a driver’s license in another woman’s name. During the investigation at a S. Main Street license bureau, she reportedly lied to deputies several times before admitting her real identity. She was taken to the Summit County Jail.
A 1985 Ford van valued at $4,000 was reported stolen April 26 from a business parking lot on Manchester Road. About $2,000 worth of tools and other items were inside the vehicle at the time.
A 25-year-old Canton woman was arrested April 27 on charges of theft and identity fraud. Deputies said she stole items from a Manchester Road supermarket and was found with a driver’s license and an ID card belonging to another woman. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.
An air compressor, a cordless drill, a stereo system, and a gas can, total value $600, were taken from a garage at a home on Eastern Road.
A 25-year-old Barberton man was charged with assault after deputies said he hit a man in the face with an unknown object at a bar on Portage Lakes Drive. The victim sustained a deep cut above his left eye. He was treated at the scene and released. Deputies also charged the suspect with two counts of drug possession after finding marijuana and a pipe on him during a pat down.
A gym bag containing a cell phone, a pair of leather sandals, keys and sportswear was taken from a locker at a Manchester Road fitness center. Total value of the property was not known.
Three suspects were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint on Portage Lakes Drive: A 60-year-old Akron man was charged with drunken driving and open container; two passengers, a 53-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man, charged with open container, and a 20-year-old Akron man, with underage consumption. The 20-year-old was also found wanted on a warrant for driving with a suspended license.
A Littledale Drive man said someone sprayed ketchup and mustard on his house and garage doors.
