Let's move to another planet

Clinton, Ohio -

I have a plan to solve all this ‘ruining the environment’ stuff us humans are doing. We need to move off of this planet. We all should get in a big rocket ship and fly to Mars or the moon or anywhere but here. That way all the trees (especially the ones at the corner of Renninger and Manchester roads) and the animals can go back to being happy again. All we humans do is mess everything up. What right do we have to this planet anyways? We act like it was made for us or something.

Am I the only sane person? Am I the only one who is tired of people placing a higher value on the environment than on humans? Some people act like cutting a tree down is murder.  Like the tree has more of a right to this planet than humans do.

I would bet that the same people who are “ashamed to be a part of the human race” because a couple of acres of trees got chopped down are the same ones who don’t want the United States to drill for oil in Alaska or the Rocky Mountains (there are about 1.3 trillion barrels of oil in these places) because it would require the cutting down of a few “lovely trees.” If we were allowed to tap into these gas prices would surely drop (or maybe not, but that’s another subject).

Now don’t get me wrong, I do not condone humans destroying the planet. I believe in good stewardship. But good stewardship doesn’t mean keeping our hands off the natural environment entirely. It means we strike a balance between using the natural resources and conserving the environment at the same time. But the attitude that we humans shouldn’t cut down another tree or clear another lot for development ever because trees are “lovely” is just crazy.

Or am I the crazy one?
