Construction will begin on synthetic turf at Green Memorial stadium on Monday, May 19, thanks to the combination of time, effort, and financial support of many of you in the community. A brief ground breaking ceremony is planned at 3 p.m.
The Booster Club has received support from many companies, individuals, organizations, and the city of Green. The Boosters would like to thank all of you willing to support this project, because without you this wouldn’t be possible. In August, 2008, Green will have one of the finest high school facilities in the entire country to go along with the city’s ranking of the 16th best place to live in the USA.
I would like to give a special thanks to two local businesses that have stepped forward in the last two weeks. One is Chipotle who donated their entire proceeds on April 30 from 5-8 p.m. This raised almost $3000 for our turf project thanks to you.
The other huge thank you goes to Jim Branney and Splash n Dash for donating an entire Saturday of free car washes. Jim and his family were there the entire day to work and be a part of it. This raised just under $6,000 in donations, again because of the generosity of businesses and individuals in Green. A special thanks to the high school football players, girls soccer players, band members, and boys lacrosse for showing up to help dry cars.
I would be remiss in not naming a few of our other larger contributors to this project. Saying thank you is hardly enough to the City of Green, InfoCision, DRB Systems, Akron Hardware, Jeff Evans Insurance, Got Game Sports, Weinsz Oil & Gas, Design Construction, The Deuble Foundation, Field Turf, Summa Center for Sports Health and Bulldog Youth Football.
We should be under construction by the time you read this. Thanks again to everyone for making this a reality.
With sincere appreciation,
Randy Oing
