This is now the season and it is important to repeat this information to the public since so many feel these beautiful creatures are trying to exert their rights. Very soon you will observe them proudly walking across the fields and the streets displaying the offspring that they have just created.
During this period of proud motherhood, the parent cannot fly as they lose their flight feathers and become grounded to protect their brood. This protection could endure for three weeks or more.
Do not blame the geese for their occupation of our lawns, fields, and lakes. The Wildlife Division can defend this statement but we were informed that they brought a multitude of these beautiful geese from Canada in the form of eggs to be hatched here for reasons that are unknown. As a result they have no conception of migration and remain here all seasons.
Yet in the process of requesting some form of signs to protect them from crossing the streets from one feeding location to another, you can be directed to Wildlife , Summit County, Local Offices, State Offices or just anywhere with the same forwarding to others for any and all services for the Geese population.
They the Geese did not make any formal request to come here and those that migrated here naturally will continue their migration as the winter months take over. People can and do overfeed and make it easy for them to enjoy a life of easy living.
We are vitally concerned with the driving public and ask if warning signs reading "Geese Crossing" could be made available and erected in stratgetic locations by some gracious civic organization. Our efforts contacting municipal organizations have been unsuccessful. Striking a walking collection of goslings is a safety factor not only to the wild life but also to the driving public.
