Letters to the Editor: Put down the cell phone, Library friends thank community, Suburbanite no place for bad news

The law has not changed, we yield to emergency vehicles.

Think of it this way: What if it was a member of your family they were going to help? This person could be dying.

Letter to Editor: Say no to Green racino

Green recently celebrated its 20th year as a city. Instead of a big celebration, we learned a casino and race track was considering a move into Green. Talk about a massive lump of coal for a gift.  Of all the development that could come to our city, this is the most damaging and destructive concept that you could come up with.

Letter to the Editor, Manchester Schools thank voters

On behalf of the Manchester Board of Education, we thank the Manchester voters for the renewal of permanent improvement funds. The district will use these funds to address repairs and critical facility needs.

Happy Hunter likes deer photos

...you obviously think deer are like Bambi – that cute little character Walt Disney created, and is a classic animated movie. I will tell you that is so far from the truth about deer.

Letter to the Editor, Invitation for heroes

Sixty-seven years ago on Feb. 19, 1945, the United States Marines landed on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. The bloodiest, most horrific battle in U.S. history. More Marines died that first day than died the first day at Normandy (D-Day).

Letters to the editor, Regarding the policing contract in Clinton

The Policing Contract with Clinton has reached its end. It has proved to be everything a few of us said it would. But it took until 2010 for the City to identify the actual costs. And as predicted, this contract costs the City of New Franklin more money than what we receive from the Village of Clinton. Per the Mayor's office, in 2010 the Village of Clinton paid only 58 percent of the actual cost for the services provided. So of course council approved the one year extension.

Letter to the Editor, Defending Mitt Romney

Reading the political news and watching the Republicans debates is discouraging at times with the name tags that are attached to candidates. The names given to various candidates do not properly describe the total view of any of them.

Letter to the Editor, When New Franklin gives, it gives in a big way

It's the season for giving and the City of New Franklin is about to once again give in a big way to the village of Clinton.  City council is considering an extension of the policing and dispatch contract we have with them; which has been partially funded by the annual donations of over $40,000 from New Franklin tax revenues.
