“He was just the kind of guy you could not say enough about,” said Lakemore Police Chief Ken Ray.

Ray was referring to police Sgt. Ronald C. See, 49, who passed away at his home on April 26 from an apparent heart attack.

“He was kind of a quiet guy. He was just an all around good guy and could not do enough for someone,” stated Ray.

He said that See did a lot of things for him behind the scenes.

“He was like my right arm on a lot of things,” said Ray. “He was an all around likeable guy and spent a lot of time taking care of the community, always checking on people. He was truly a community policing officer.”

See lived in Springfield Township and was a 1977 graduate of Springfield High School. He has served the Lakemore Police Department for 22 years and was an active member of the Summit County Metro SWAT Team, Springfield Fraternal Order of Police, Wayfarer Masonic Temple and Lakemore Methodist Church.

He enjoyed many hobbies but especially walking around Hartville Marketplace and babysitting his grandson, Antonio. He will be remembered as a loyal friend and a loving husband, father and grandfather.

“He loved working here. He had other opportunities but he wanted to be in Lakemore,” said Ray.

Mayor Mike Kolomichuk stated, “The first time I met him I thought, wow what a big guy and that is exactly what he was, a big man. He was a real gentleman, fair, laid back, kind, big hearted, dedicated and concerned and compassionate about the community and its residents. He was the kind of guy that was a role model for many. When he put on that uniform or got in that cruiser he set an example for his peers. He took pride in his work and his community.”

“Ron and his wife, Lucy, were always encouraging to me,” said Councilperson Marlene Hill. “He was a wonderful person, officer and friend to all who knew him. He was a credit to his uniform and position.”

To Lakemore residents he was the officer that cared, was helpful and understanding. To those who worked with him, he was a right hand, a pleasure to work with and certainly worked hard to accomplish much. He was always someone you could count on.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Orcean See. He is survived by his family: mother, Sue; wife of 22 years, Lucy; children, Ben and wife Gretchen See, Brandy See; grandson, Antonio See; mother-in-law, Mary Esola; and many friends.
