James Ice, 19, of Manchester, was killed in an ATV accident on May, around 8 p.m. on Thursby Rd.
Ice was driving the ATV which slid off the road and struck a tree, killing him on impact, said Sgt. Scott Cottle.
Shelly Lindsey, 29, of Green, was thrown about 50 feet from the ATV, sustaining serious but not life threatening injuries. She was admitted into the Akron City Hospital.
At this time, alcohol does not appear to be the factor for the accident. No charges will be filed because the driver died. Cottle said the accident is still under investigation, but is unsure if they will be able to determine the speed of the ATV at the time of the crash.
Cottle added having a passenger on the back of an ATV can sometimes take weight off the front tires of the vehicle, which might cause steering to become a problem, and losing control as the ATV speeds up. He said it makes a significant difference in how they handle.
