The field has been narrowed down to two candidates to replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Wade Lucas. Initially there were 23 applications for the position. From this list the board narrowed it down to five candidates. Out of this group two were selected for the final round of interviews.The two candidates under consideration are Rod Moorman and Mike Nutter.
Moorman is currently superintendent of St. Henry's school system in western Ohio near Fort Recovery on the Indiana-Ohio border. He received his degree from the University of Toledo in 1974 and went on to get his Master's degree from the University of Dayton. He taught language arts and business, and coached football and soccer. He became the superintendent of St Henry's in 2000. The school system has an approximate enrollment of 1,100 and received an Excellent With Distinction from the Ohio Department of Education in 2008. He is married and has a son and daughter.
Nutter is currently the superintendent of Mechanicsburg Exempted Village School District which is located west of Columbus between Marysville and Springfield. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1993 and received his Master's degree from Ashland University in 1998. He is currently working on his PhD. He taught science and algebra for four years, and coached baseball and basketball at Dublin. He has been the superintendent of Mechanicsburg since 2005. The school has a student population of approximately 1,100. The school received an Excellent rating from the Ohio Department of Education in 2008. He is married and has four children.
