Perry's state championship hopes took a serious hit with a 3-4 quarterfinal round today.
The Panthers got pins from Jose Rodriguez (106 pounds) and JoJo Tayse (195), while David Bavery also won at 120. However, Casey Sparkman (138), Isaac Bast (145), Tony Dailey (152) and Bruno Millin (160) all lost.
Massillon's Ivan McClay also advanced to the semifinals at 126. However, his teammate, Jake Donahue (106) suffered a defeat.
Jackson's Lucas Marcelli (145) and Charlie Dear (182) both lost as well in the quarterfinals.
All of the quarterfinal losers must come back this afternoon to wrestle in the consolation second round.
