Feb. 19 meeting
KEY ACTION Council authorized the mayor to apply for, accept and enter into a Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) agreement on behalf of the village. The loan is for the planning, designing and construction of drinking water facilities.
The village is seeking the loan to upgrade its existing drinking water treatment facilities and intends to apply for the WSRLA for the construction of the well number 5 project. It would be a 20-year loan with a maximum amount of $125,000. Mayor Rick Justice said getting well number 5 online is overdue and vital to the village water system.
OTHER BUSINESS
Approved ordinances and resolutions included:
• Council agreed to continue engineering services with CT Consultants.
• Authorized the mayor to file, on the behalf of the village, an application to the Summit Akron Solid Waste Management Authority (Authority) for community recycling access. Council members want to assist in implementing and supporting new and existing community recycling programs that assist the Authority in meeting the goals and objectives of the State of Ohio’s Solid Waste Management Plan and the Authority’s approved plan. The grant would further the goals to sustain and increase recycling activities within Summit County.
• Council passed a resolution to provide a stipend to employees of the village to use their personal cell phones during working hours. The fiscal officer was instructed to pay $20 a month to those electing to return the cellular phones provided by the village. Those employees will agree to keep their phones activated during regular working hours, during on-call hours or during anytime they may be required to provide emergency services.
“It would be a win-win for us and the employees,” Justice said, adding that it would cut costs.
• Council declared the week of April 22 through April 26 as Lakemore Clean Up Week.
• The mayor was authorized to enter into an agreement with the Mogadore Fire Department for the sale of a 2001 Dodge Ram Truck. The truck is owned by the village and is no longer needed by the Department of Public Services and Mogadore’s department is in need of the vehicle. The purchase price is $7,500.

• The community clean up day will be held April 27 at 9 a.m.
