- On July 3, deputies were called to a disturbance at a bar on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road after a patron said a North Canton man tried to start a fight with him. The patron was able to defend himself and declined to file charges. Two witnesses said they saw the North Canton man try to pick fights with several other people. Officers took the North Canton man to a local hospital for an evaluation.
- Also on July 3, an employee at a South Arlington Road restaurant said she saw a man throw two bags of marijuana in the dumpster. An officer retrieved the contraband and entered it as evidence.
- On July 4, a South Arlington Road man reported damage to his mailbox after someone put fireworks inside.
- A Massillon Road resident reported a 5-foot cement alligator stolen from her yard.
- A Mayfair Road man, 22, was arrested July 2 for domestic violence. Deputies said he pinned his wife to the floor after taking a cell phone from her. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
- On June 30, a Christman Road woman reported three prescription medications and two wedding bands and a ring missing from her home. Total value of the items was set at $1,060.
- A 24-year-old Canal Fulton man was arrested on two active warrants June 29 after being pulled over for speeding on South Main Street. The warrants, one for driving under suspension and the other for criminal trespass, were from the Copley Township and Barberton police departments. Deputies made another warrant arrest the same evening. A 22-year-old Akron man was turned over to Medina police after he was discovered with a warrant during a traffic stop on South Arlington Road.
- A 39-year-old Akron man was booked into the Summit County Jail June 29 for violating a protection order filed by his mother. The woman called the Sheriff’s Office after the man showed up at her South Main Street home. Officers found the man at the location.
- A Massillon Road man, 52, was arrested June 29 on a warrant charging him with domestic violence. He is accused of punching his girlfriend in the eye and dumping a charcoal grill full of ashes on her. The woman was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital for further treatment. The man was booked into the Summit County Jail.

- A dirt bike valued at $1,824 was reported stolen July 3 from an unlocked garage in the 100 block of Vaughn Road.

- Also on July 3, someone entered an unlocked car in the 3700 block of Grupe Avenue and stole the purse inside containing a checkbook, $30, a credit card and the owner’s driver’s license.
- Deputies are investigating an attempted abduction reported on July 1. A 16-year-old girl said she was walking to a friend’s house on Robinson Avenue when a man in a black SUV stopped alongside her and tried to entice her into his vehicle. The girl ran into a nearby woods and called deputies.
- A Penguin Drive woman told deputies July 1 that her ex-boyfriend entered her apartment with a spare key and took a flat-screen television and a laptop without her permission. The man admitted taking the items and agreed to return them. The woman did not wish to file charges.
- Also on July 1, a resident in the 2600 block of South Arlington Road reported a propane grill stolen from his front yard.
- A Cottage Grove Road man, 31, was arrested and jailed June 30 on a domestic violence charge. Deputies said he threatened to kill his girlfriend during an argument over their relationship. The woman signed a temporary protection order.
- A Magnet Street woman told deputies that a man named Steven drove by her house and gave the finger to her 15-year-old granddaughter. She also said someone shot a bottle rocket at her house. The incidents were being investigated.
- On June 30, thieves stole $15 from two unlocked cars on Dot Court.
- A laptop computer valued at $499 was reported stolen June 28 from a home in the 800 block of East Waterloo Road. Deputies found no signs of forced entry into the home.
City of New Franklin
- A 23-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of drugs July 5 after police found a bag of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop on Center Road. Also, a computer check revealed he was driving with a suspended license.
- On July 2, a Manchester Road woman told police she has been receiving threatening emails from her mother-in-law, some of which said she wants to hurt or kill her. The mother-in-law denied the allegations. Police were investigating.
- A 22-year-old Norton man was charged July 1 with driving under a financial responsibility suspension after he was pulled over for a traffic violation on Manchester Road. A computer check revealed he had two previous driving suspension convictions in the past three years. A passenger identified as a 23-year-old Akron man was charged with possession of drugs after he was found with a bag of marijuana.
- A 91-year-old city man told police he received a call from someone who said his son had been arrested in Ecuador and needed money wired to get him out on bond. The man withdrew $5,779 from his account and had it wired to an address in Ecuador. He later learned that his son was not in jail and the call was a scam.
- On June 29, a Renninger Road woman reported 15 personal checks were stolen from her purse. She said someone then forged her name on the checks and cashed them for a total of $8,700. The matter was being investigated.
Springfield Township
- A 27-year-old Lake Road woman was taken to an area hospital July 3 after she was found lying on the side of the road. Police said she was extremely intoxicated. During a search of her purse, officers found two small bags of marijuana, a crack pipe and several other drug-related items. The woman faces charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drug abuse instruments.
- A 28-year-old Utica Avenue man was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication June 30 after a patrol officer found him sleeping in a ditch on Old Home Road.
- Police are looking for the man who robbed a Canton Road gas station at gunpoint on June 27. According to reports, the suspect entered the business around 8:40 p.m., brandished a handgun at the clerk and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money. Police said the suspect is a white male in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, shorts and black skater type shoes. - Someone busted out a window on a bus parked at an Albrecht Avenue church June 26. Damage was estimated at $150.
- A 23-year-old Akron woman was arrested June 25 for trying to pass a bad check at a Canton Road furniture store. Police said the woman wrote a check for $1,495 on an account that had been closed since 2008.
- Also on June 25, police responded to a security alarm at a Canton Road gaming parlor. An officer reported finding a ladder outside the building leading to a second-story window. The window was broken. After doing an inventory check, the owner found nothing missing from inside.
Uniontown Police
- On July 5, a Hoover Avenue man reported someone struck his mailbox during the overnight hours, uprooting the post from the ground. Damage was estimated at $100.
- A Fairwynde Circle man, 42, was charged with domestic violence July 1 after he was accused of assaulting his wife at their home. He was booked into the Stark County Jail. The man’s mother-in-law, 55, of Cuyahoga Falls, was charged with disorderly conduct during the same incident. Police said she admitted to grabbing the man by the neck. She was released with a summons.
- Someone entered an unlocked shed in the 3200 block of Linden Street June 30 and stole about $320 worth of property. Among the items taken were a hedge trimmer, a cordless drill and two gas cans.
Hartville Village
- Someone broke into a storage unit at a facility on W. Maple Street July 5 and stole a 19-inch television and a rolling toolbox filled with tools. Total value of the property was estimated at $800.
- A Miller Avenue boy, 17, was charged July 5 with possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they found a marijuana pipe in his car during a traffic stop on W. Maple Street. The boy was initially pulled over for an expired license plate.
- A utility trailer was reported stolen July 4 from a lot in the 1100 block of W. Maple Street. The owner believes the trailer was taken sometime between June 29 and July 3.
- Police arrested a 54-year-old Akron man July 4 for drunken driving and having an open container. The arrest took place during a stop for a lane-crossing violation on W. Maple Street, the report said.
