The Summit County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant for the girlfriend of a man charged with child endangering after he allegedly poured hot water on his 18-month-old son.

According to a press release from Inspector William Holland, charges have been filed against Jenna Casteel, 25, of Coventry. She is facing counts of endangering children and obstructing official business in the boy’s scalding.

Holland said deputies were trying to locate Casteel.

On Monday, Holland issued a press release announcing that the boy’s father, Dusty Gauder, 27, also of Coventry, was facing charges of felonious assault and child endangering in connection with the incident at his Lakeway Drive home.

According to Holland, the boy was with Gauder at the time of the scalding and during the investigation, Casteel allegedly made conflicting statements to detectives.

She also allegedly did not report the boy’s injury in a timely manner.

According to authorities, the child was being treated at Akron Children’s Hospital.

According to reports, the toddler suffered first- and second-degree burns after a pan of hot water was poured on his back.

Gauder was arrested Friday and remains in the Summit County Jail in lieu of bond. Holland said the case is pending in Barberton Municipal Court.

Anyone with information regarding Casteel’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 330-643-2181.
