In the wake of a $12 million infrastructure project to widen Arlington Road, the city has created the Green Auto Mile, a stretch of Arlington Road between Interstate 77 and state Route 619.
The stretch of road is home to six auto dealerships. The infrastructure improvement project also included updates to the intersection of Arlington and state Route 619 and improved sidewalks and curbs in the area.
To commemorate the naming, Green will hold a three-day event starting July 26-28, with a “Grand Slam” community event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at each dealership.
Participating dealerships include Doug Chevrolet, Fred Martin Nissan, Lexus of Akron/Canton, Park Auto Group, Ron Marhofer Hyundai and Toth Buick GMC.
“The auto dealers and the city of Green are all very excited about this new collaboration,” Green Mayor Dick Norton said. “Each dealership is in walking distance of each other as well as in close proximity to retail shopping centers, restaurants, hotels and a movie theater.”
Festivities begin July 26 with a VIP event. From 5 to 9 p.m. July 27, guests can cash in on deals on new and used cars.
July 28 is the big “Grand Slam” event, which will feature family friendly activities at each dealership from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Festivities will include food, raffle prizes, music, giveaways, meet the mascots, bounce houses, an inflatable slide and celebrity appearances.
A classic car show also will be held.
