A township woman who asked her guest to leave when he reportedly began “acting strange,” called police when he returned to her home, broke out her kitchen window and climbed back inside the house, said Chief David Zink.

The man tried to grab her laptop computer, but she took it from him, went to her bathroom, locked the door and called police, the chief said.

The man then grabbed a case of beer and fled.

A short time later, arriving officers found him. Devin J. Liolios, 25, of 3030 Standish Ave. SW in Perry Township, was hiding near her backyard, Stark County Jail records said.

Police believe he broke out the window about 3 a.m. Tuesday at her home in the 7300 block of Knight Street NW and climbed back inside, the jail records said.

When police arrived, he ran from the house.

Evidently police ran faster.

He was arrested and booked into the jail on charges of burglary, criminal damaging and endangering and resisting arrest.

Liolios remained in the jail early Wednesday, held in lieu of $50,750 bond.

Stark County court records show he went to prison in 2008 for illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of aggravated drug possession.

The court records also show that, the day before the alleged burglary, township police pulled him over and cited him for operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under suspension, failure to appear in court or pay fines for a previous driving under suspension charge, speeding and a marked lanes violation.

The court records listed his address as 4212 Grunder Ave. NW in Canton.

He was also convicted last month of operating a vehicle while impaired and having no taillight illumination, the court records show. He had been cited on those charges after North Canton police pulled him over.

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail and all but three were suspended.
