The police department’s Youth Corps is hosting a recruitment drive Saturday morning for young people interested in law enforcement and community service activities.
The drive will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in Canton City Council chambers, 218 Cleveland Ave. SW, said Capt. David Kurzinsky.
Anyone ages 14 to 21 with an interest in law enforcement and other community service is encouraged to attend.
Current Youth Corps members and police advisors will be on hand to answer questions and have applications available.
The Youth Corps was established by the police department in association with the Boy Scouts of America’s Explorer Program.
Members learn about and become involved in a variety of law enforcement and criminal justice activities, according to the police department’s website at http://cantonohio.gov/police/?pg=401. The website lists some of the activities including the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival, the Atwood Fall Festival and many downtown events including fireworks celebrations and the Safe Kids Identification Program, SKIP.
Anyone unable to attend may also apply on the city’s website.
