The annual City of Green Trick-or-Treat Trail is Saturday, Oct. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road.
Starting at the walking path entrance near the schoolhouse, costumed children will “trick-or-treat” around the pond at Boettler Park. Each year more than 1,000 children attend the event. Prior to the Trail, a costume contest will be held at 2 p.m. on the tennis courts. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to children in each of the categories: newborn to age 2 at 2 p.m.; 3 to f5 year olds at 2:15 p.m.; 6 to 8 year olds at 2:30 p.m.; and, 9 to 12 year olds at 2:45 p.m.
Area businesses and community leaders have donated the treats and will be on hand to pass out candy. The event is open to children 12 years old and younger. Admission cost is a non-perishable food donation, which will be donated to Green Good Neighbors to feed needy families of Green and surrounding areas during the holidays.
Businesses and organizations that would like to participate in handing out treats should contact Kim Goodhart at 330-896-6621 or kgoodhart@cityofgreen.org. Participation is free; however, organizations must supply treats for an estimated 1,200 children.
