A Summit County jury returned from its weekend break Monday morning and resumed deliberations in the aggravated murder trial of Brogan Rafferty.

Rafferty, 17, of Stow, faces a 25-count indictment, including multiple counts of aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery, plus numerous specifications.

Prosecutors said he helped Richard J. Beasley, 53, of Akron, lure victims to rural Noble County with promises of farm work in 2011.

Three men were killed in the scheme — two in southern Ohio, one in Akron — and another man survived being shot.

Rafferty denied shooting any of the victims, but admitted to digging their graves and helping Beasley in other ways.

The defense said Beasley manipulated Rafferty, who was 16 when the killings happened, but prosecutors said the teen was a willing accomplice.
