City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
An Auberry Drive man, 29, was charged with domestic violence Jan. 25. Deputies said he is accused of hitting his brother, 31, in the head and face during an altercation at their home.

On Jan. 26, the fire department’s water-rescue team was called after residents on Brandt Drive reported seeing a dog fall through the ice on Miller Lake. The Labrador retriever was pulled to safety and later taken to the Humane Society for treatment. Authorities were eventually able to find the dog’s owner.

Also on Jan. 26, a Sara Drive woman reported the rear license plate was stolen from her Jeep Cherokee.

Sheriff’s deputies are seeking suspects who cut the lock off a trailer at a Lauby Road construction site and stole numerous tools and metal parts valued at approximately $14,000. The incident occurred sometime between Jan. 21 and Jan. 23, according to reports.

Two compact discs, an iPhone charger and some loose change were reported taken Jan. 25 from an unlocked SUV in the 4200 block of Aylesford Road.

An E. Comet Road woman, 53, was cited Jan. 22 for an animal control violation. Deputies said her dog got loose in her trailer park and started charging at people. She was warned several times before about controlling her dog, according to the report.

On Jan. 19, deputies arrested a 26-year-old Brook Park woman after a computer check revealed she was wanted on an active warrant. She was initially pulled over on Mayfair Road for suspicious activity.

A 42-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft Jan. 19 after she allegedly tried to leave a Corporate Woods Parkway supermarket with a cart containing $402 in groceries.

Coventry Township (Sheriff’s Patrol)

An Akron woman was charged with theft Jan. 24 after she allegedly drove away from a West Waterloo Road gas station without paying for $25 worth of fuel.

Two 5-gallon cans of gasoline were reported stolen from a yard on Chenoweth Drive Jan. 26.   

On Jan. 24, an Ethan Allen Drive woman reported two lawn decorations were stolen from her yard. A wooden fence was damaged.

A purse containing a cell phone charger, miscellaneous papers and loose change was taken Jan. 23 from an unlocked car in the 2900 block of North Prior Road. On the same day, a black handbag was reported stolen from a church on Killian Road.

Deputies responded to several criminal mischief reports Jan. 22 in the 3200-3300 block of Rowena Court. Residents said suspects pulled two street signs and a newspaper box post out of the ground and placed them in different locations.

An Organ Ave. man, 42, was arrested Jan. 21 on charges of operating a meth lab at his home. According to reports, he was turned in by a woman who had been living with him for the past two months. He was initially arrested on a felony domestic violence warrant; the meth charges were added later at a grand jury hearing.

Also on Jan. 21, someone broke into a truck in the 3900 block of Lake Vista Drive and stole tools and an unspecified amount of money.

An 84-year-old man told deputies on Jan. 20 that he accidentally left his cash and driver’s license in a drive-thru container at a Manchester Road bank. He called the bank and was told by employees that they did not have his money and license nor did anyone turn them in. 

City of New Franklin
A 45-year-old Akron man was jailed on drug charges Jan. 25 after police said they found him in possession of a plastic pipe containing a white powder. The powder later tested positive for methamphetamine. The man was initially pulled over for a traffic violation on State Route 619.

Someone tampered with the donation box at the Vietnam Memorial on S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, according to a Jan. 24 report. An unknown amount of cash was taken. The incident occurred sometime between Jan. 21 and Jan. 23, the report said.

A 7th Street woman was scammed out of $125 after wiring the money to a man named “Rolly” who said he could arrange to have two baby skunks delivered to her home by Jan. 21. When no delivery was made, the woman tried phoning the man but was unsuccessful. She later learned the suspect could be living somewhere in Africa.

A Midland Avenue woman, 48, was charged Jan. 22 with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. Reports said she showed up at a neighbor’s home intoxicated after being warned during a previous incident to stay off the property. On Jan. 23, the same woman was charged with another count of disorderly conduct after she allegedly called the police station 10 times within an hour and a half. Police said she was warned earlier in the day about making unnecessary calls to the station.

A 35-year-old Norton woman was charged with telecommunications harassment Jan. 20. A Vanderhoof Road man complained the woman was harassing him with continuous phone calls and text messages. The woman called while an officer was at the home taking the report. The officer ran a background check on the woman and learned she was arrested before on the same charge.

Springfield Township
Two young women were observed shoplifting clothing from a South Arlington Road department store on Jan. 25. A security officer confronted them in the parking lot. One of women surrendered to the officer while the other, who had a baby in her arms, ran to a nearby hotel. The officer followed the woman. When he caught up with her, she put the baby down on the ground and came toward him aggressively with her hands in her pockets, saying she had a knife on her and would cut him. She then picked up the baby and ran to a nearby gas station, where she managed to get a ride from a stranger. Police issued a warrant for the 18-year-old, charging her with theft, aggravated robbery and child endangering. Also charged in the incident was a 17-year-old Barberton boy, who was seen with the suspects but denied knowing them to police.

An Ellet Avenue man, 23, was charged Jan. 24 with domestic violence. Police said he knocked his girlfriend to the ground, choked her, then threw a recliner on top of her and jumped on it.

A woman said someone entered her unlocked car while she was shopping at an E. Waterloo Road store Jan. 24. A debit card, $23 and a prescription bottle of pills were reported taken.

A 36-year-old homeless woman was charged Jan. 23 with possession of a schedule I or II substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police stopped her after she was seen parked behind a closed business on Canton Road. During a search of her car, officers said they found two glass pipes and a bag of methamphetamine. The woman was booked into the Summit County Jail.

A 59-year-old Akron man was charged Jan. 22 with theft and obstructing official business. Police said he was caught stealing two electronic items from a South Arlington Road department store. He gave the arresting officer a fake name and social security number, police said. After his real identity was determined, the officer found out the man had a warrant on file in Minnesota for a parole violation.

A Meadow Drive man, 38, and a Linwood Road man, 51, were charged Jan. 22 with two counts of receiving stolen property. Police said they found scrap metal and other items in their truck that had been reported stolen from two local businesses.

On Jan. 21, an employee at a South Arlington Road clothing store reported finding a loaded handgun in the men’s restroom. Police were able to locate the gun’s owner, who was shopping in the store. He told police he took the gun out and laid it down on the floor when was in the restroom, then forgot about it. The man had a concealed carry permit.

A lawn trailer valued at $250 was taken Jan. 21 from a yard in the 2600 block of Killian Road. On the same day, a part was removed from a snow plow in the 2100 block of Pressler Road. The part was valued at $1,200.

Also on Jan. 21, someone broke into a garage on Howard Avenue after forcing open the overhanging door and turning off the outside security light. Tools valued at $1,135 were reported stolen. Damage to the door was set at $1,100.

Lakemore Village
Police were called to check on a neighbor dispute at a Main Street home Jan. 21. Two men at the scene were found with active warrants from different police departments. They were arrested and turned over to the proper authorities.

Uniontown Police
An Oasis Avenue man, 18, was booked into the Stark County Jail Jan. 26 on felony charges of trafficking in drugs and corrupting another with drugs. Police said he ordered synthetic marijuana, typically known as K2, over the Internet and had it shipped to a juvenile’s home. The juvenile later overdosed on the substance.

On Jan. 24, a Wickham Street man said someone attempted to break into his garage by trying to pry the deadbolt lock on the door.

On the same day, a Smith Kramer Street woman told police that her ex-boyfriend posted nude photos of her on the Internet. Police were investigating.

A 32-year-old Akron man was jailed Jan. 21 on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools, destroying identity of a vehicle and obstructing official business. Police said he was found at a Cleveland Avenue trailer park with a car that was reported stolen in New Philadelphia.

Hartville Village
A 46-year-old Akron man and a 48-year-old Seville woman were charged with theft Jan. 27. Police said they stole about $115 worth of merchandise from a supermarket on W. Maple Street.
