An Akron man died from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash on Manchester Road, north of Pearlman Street in New Franklin.
George L. Derry 73, of 428 Catalina Drive, was transported to to Barberton City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to troopers with the Canton Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol,, Derry was the driver of a 2002 Mercury Villager that was stopped facing eastbound waiting to exit a private parking lot to turn northbound on Manchester Road. He failed to yield the right of way when he exited the parking lot and was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Express van driven by William M. Palmeri of Akron.
Palmeri and a passenger in his van, Daniel M. Graham, 46, of Akron, were not injured in the crash.
Derry was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
