KEY ACTION Council held its first regular meeting of the year and approved a variety of ordinances and resolutions. An ordinance increasing the rental rates for docks will affect both residents and nonresidents. The approved ordinance will go into effect for the summer season. Residents of Lakemore will pay an increase of $125 for seasonal dock rental from $125 to $250. The nonresident rate increases from $250 to $500. Mayor Rick Justice said it is necessary to increase the rates since docks will begin to need repairs.
Fiscal Officer Tracy Fast said rental renewal began Feb. 1 for previous renters and renewal requests must be received by Feb. 28. After the deadline, docks will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. The dock rental season begins May 1 and continues until Oct. 31.
OTHER BUSINESS
• Approved a monthly salary increase for zoning inspector John Berringer. Compensation for the position was set at $110 per month.
• Authorized the Department of Public Services to purchase one pair of work boots and a coat for each department employee. Cost is $100 per item. The expenses were approved for Gene Taylor, Larry Wix and David Banks.
“This is something we need to do,” Justice said. “These guys are out in the mud and the cold fixing water and sewer lines, and they don’t want to take that contamination home. We all agree they should have boots and coats just for work and be well protected.”

• Accepted the resignation of Joshua McPeak from the Lakemore Fire Department

INFO The Rural Community Assistance Program will be conducting a utilities rate study for the village
UP NEXT Council meeting Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 1400 Main St.
