Authorities have charged a Mogadore woman in connection with the fatal hit-skip accident July 17 that killed a Springfield Township teen.
According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Dianna L. Vandyne, 46, was arrested Thursday on charges of tampering with evidence and felony hit skip.
Vandyne was stopped by troopers on Trares Road in Portage County and arrested on the warrant issued from the Akron Municipal Court. She was taken to the Summit County Jail where she was to be arraigned today in Akron Municipal Court.
Vandyne is facing the charges in connection with a July 17 accident that killed 16-year-old Springfield High School sophomore Anthony Weakland.
Weakland was walking with a friend along Albrecht Avenue near his family’s South Columbine Avenue home when he was clipped from behind by a passing vehicle.
A fund was established to help pay for funeral expenses. Donations to the Anthony Weakland Memorial Fund may be made at any FirstMerit Bank.
