Seven local teenage rock bands are about to experience what it’s like to perform on the stage of Canton’s historic Palace Theatre.

Yes, The Repository’s Battle of the Bands is returning for its 10th year at 7 p.m. March 9.

Here is a look at the contenders who will be competing for a prize package and this year’s title at the big show, which always draws a lively young crowd.

Co-hosting this year with Repository entertainment editor Dan Kane will be Jake Friel, the 16-year-old vocalist and harmonica player for The Brighter Side, the blues band that won the 2011 battle.

Advance discount tickets are $8 and are available now at Auntie Anne’s Soft Pretzels in the food court at Westfield Belden Village. Horizon Audio, the Palace Theatre box office, and The Repository lobby also have advance tickets available. Admission will be $10 at the door.

Also available is a $20 VIP package, which includes prime seating, a battle T-shirt, glow necklace and goodie bag.

While at the Westfield food court, take a moment to vote for your favorite battle finalist in our Fan Favorites contest.
