Mayor Dick Norton is currently accepting letters of interest from Green residents and members of the community who are interested in being part of the city’s first sustainability task force.

The group, to be comprised of five members from the community, will be charged with developing recommendations for policies and practices that improve Green’s environmental stewardship and foster a culture of sustainability.

“I am looking for individuals who can help us define what being sustainable looks like for Green,” Norton said.

“A sustainability plan for Green will look and should be very different than for New York City, or even Akron. A sustainability plan will have impact only to the degree that it acknowledges and identifies what our core values are.”

Interested individuals should submit a brief letter stating their unique experience and qualifications with relating to sustainability and how they can assist the City of Green by being a member of this task force and developing its sustainability plan in the monthsahead.

Letters of interest are being accepted until Sept. 10. Address them to Mayor Dick Norton, PO Box 278, Green, Ohio 44232.

For more information on the committee and its purpose, contact Sarah Haring, Community Development Administrator for the city, at 330-896-6614 or sharing@cityofgreen.org.
