Stark State College President Para M. Jones has been selected by the Ohio Board of Regents to serve on the newly formed Technology Transfer and Commercialization Task Force. She is one of just two community college presidents appointed to the task force.
Relying on input from stakeholders, the group is charged with developing a statewide commercialization ecosystem that creates jobs in Ohio by moving higher education to commercialized application. The goal is to create new businesses, attract new businesses and expand existing businesses.
The task force is made up of higher education and business leaders, including university presidents, corporate CEOs, financial investors, industry advocates and entrepreneurial intermediaries. Jones, who along with Lorain County Community College President Roy Church represents Ohio’s 24 community and technical colleges, attended her first task force meeting in Columbus March 21, shortly after being appointed.
Jones was nominated by Vinny Gupta, chairman of the Technology Transfer and Commercialization Task Force, during the regent’s recent visit to Stark State. During his tour of the college’s new Business and Entrepreneurial Center, Gupta called the new facility a tremendous asset for not only entrepreneurship, but also technology transfer and commercialization in the region.
