A traffic crash Saturday afternoon in Summit County’s Springfield Township sent a local man to the hospital.
According to a news release from the Summit County Sheriff’s office: James Ridgeway, 29, of Lake Township, was driving a 1993 Chevy pickup west on U.S. Route 224 at a high speed near the Rubber Bowl at 4 p.m. A Chevy Equinox, driven by Pamela Patrone, 50, of Mogadore, pulled on to the highway from Hilbish Avenue — and the vehicles collided.
The truck went off the right side of the road, struck a wire and rolled over, toppling a utility pole in the process.
Ridgeway and his two passengers, Amanda Joyce, 30, of Kentucky, and Robert McCullen, 29, of Mogadore, were trapped inside and had to be removed from the vehicle. All four people were taken to Akron City Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Department said.
U.S. Route 224 was closed until 10:30 p.m. Saturday due to the crash.
