“Our new Whipple Avenue branch in Canton continues Key’s trend of investing in its branch network,” Jeffrey C. Douglas, president of KeyBank’s Eastern Ohio District, said in a news release. “While we’ve added four new branches here in the past three years, we’ve also relocated three other existing branches into new buildings and have remodeled several others.”

The new branch has added services, including two drive-through teller windows, a drive-through ATM lane with 24-hour banking, safe deposit boxes, a night deposit system for business banking clients and Saturday banking.

The new building has been registered with the U.S. Green Building Council to acquire LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, proof that construction focused on sustainable energy savings, lower operating costs and diverting construction waste from landfills.

Energy-saving features of the new branch include Energy Star light fixtures that make lighting 30 percent more efficient, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures and drought-tolerant landscaping for water conservation, recycling of 75 percent of the construction waste, exterior LED  lighting that can save enough energy in one year to power an average American home for nearly two and a half months; more than 30 percent of the building materials sourced locally; 100 percent of the energy used to power the branch over the next two years will be generated by wind and solar sources and all paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, carpeting and composite woods are low-emitting materials, providing clean indoor air.
