KEY ACTION Approved a revocable use permit that allows the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority to relocate a shelter to the bus stop on Belden Village Street NW in Jackson Township.
DISCUSSION SARTA Executive Director Kirt Conrad estimated that roughly 100 people a day board the bus at the location, making it one of the agency’s busiest stops. He said the bus shelter had been located at Higbee Avenue and Munson Street NW before the agency built the new Belden Village Transit Center at 4700 Whipple Ave. NW and consolidated the stops.
OTHER ACTION
• Hired Hilscher-Clarke Electric Co. of Canton for $50,040 and Spring Electric Co. of Plain Township for $7,990 to install or retrofit lighting fixtures in several county government offices. Hilscher-Clarke will upgrade roughly 350 lighting fixtures at the county data center, board of elections, veterans service commission, prosecutor’s office, family court and regional planning commission. Spring Electric will upgrade 48 light fixtures at the county records center. The upgrades will be paid by a federal Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant.
• Renewed a contract with Correctional Health Care Group for $1.5 million to provide medical services for inmates at the Stark County jail.
• Hired law firm Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty of Jackson Township for $125 an hour to handle labor negotiations with the unions representing the county building department and the county garage. The existing labor contracts for both unions expire Dec. 31.
• Hired C.R.S. General Contracting Co. of Robertsville for $4,230 to demolish a structure at 7189 Oakhill Ave. NE in Washington Township as part of the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
UP NEXT Meets at 10 a.m. Monday for a work session on the second floor of the Stark County Office Building at 110 Central Plaza S. in Canton. The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County is expected to give a presentation about its operations.
