A township man who fell asleep at a party after drinking and woke up to find himself locked in the building with no apparent way out was jailed after he trashed the place, according to Stark County Jail records.

The 24-year-old Ravenwood Avenue NW man was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Monday in the 4800 block of Echoglenn Street NW on a felony vandalism charge, the records said.

The man reportedly went to an employer-and-employee party for a North Canton restaurant about 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Cable Club House, 5725 Fulton Rd. NW. The jail records did not list him as an employee there. His employer was listed as an irrigation and lighting company.

Jail records said he admitted to drinking alcohol and having fallen asleep.

He woke up about 1 a.m. Monday and discovered he was locked inside the building.

“In a drunken rage,” he broke several items until he found a door out of the building about 5 a.m., the jail records said.

When police located him, the man was jailed and later released on his own recognizance pending a hearing in Massillon Municipal Court, jail records said.
