Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney arrived at Brookside Country Club shortly before 6 p.m. where he’s headlining a private fundraiser.

Romney was greeted by about 18 people carrying signs that read, “Romney bad for Ohio” and “Mitt Romney 100% out of touch.”

His motorcade drove past the protesters who were standing at the east driveway, and used the west entrance to Brookside off Perry Drive.

The group then moved to the west entrance, too. They were chanting, “Outsource Romney!”

Sue Mills of Canton was among the group, Fighting for a Fair Economy.

“We’re protesting his visit to Canton because we’re the 99 percent — we’re the ones who can’t afford for him to be president,” she said. “If he gets in,  I’m afraid ... I’m raising two sons and I have Medcaid for them so I can have insurance. He’s trying to cut that back. He’s trying to cut everything off and handicap the people coming up now. Everybody is struggling.

Mills said the group also protested outside Romney’s appearances in Toledo and Bowling Green earlier Wednesday.
