Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is scheduled to headline a private fundraiser at Brookside Country Club in Jackson Township on Wednesday evening, several Republicans said.

Invitations that arrived in local Republicans’ mailboxes earlier this week ask for contributions of $2,500 per person for those who attend. Couples who give $10,000 can get a picture of themselves with Romney at a VIP reception at about 5:30 p.m. Those who donate $25,000 get to become a member of the host committee.

A general reception will follow at 5:45 p.m., with dinner at 6:45 p.m.

A staffer with the Romney campaign who asked not to be named, said donors at the fundraiser are contributing money to the campaign, the Republican National Committee and some Republican state committees.

The staffer said Romney is not scheduled to take part in any public events in Stark County on Wednesday.

Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, is set to attend a fundraiser in the Toledo area Wednesday afternoon. He last made a public appearance in Stark County in March, the day before the Ohio primary, when he spoke at Gregory Industries’ plant in Canton Township.

The staffer did not anticipate any major traffic issues for local motorists resulting from Romney’s visit.

In 2008, after then-GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin arrived at  the Akron-Canton Airport for a fundraiser at Brookside, Ohio, Highway Patrol troopers briefly cleared traffic on Interstate 77 for her motorcade.

According to the staffer, the host committee of those expected to attend the Brookside event and to donate at least $25,000 each include:

  •  The former U.S. ambassador to Germany, W.R. “Tim” Timken, Jr. and his wife, Sue.

  •  Timken Co. Chairman W.J. “Tim” Timken, Jr. and his wife, Jane.

  •  The former ambassador’s brother and the chairman’s father W.J. “Jack” Timken and his wife, Joy.

  •  Timken Co. president and CEO James W. Griffith and his wife, Pam.

  •  The J.M. Smucker Co. Chairman Timothy Smucker and his wife, Jenny, of Orrville.
  •  Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and her husband, Don.
